Can anyone recomend a cleaning solution / liquid to use in my newly acquired ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning carbs.
I have had some mixed results so far.

I have tried numerous cocktails over the years and settled on just plain hot water.
My cleaner has a built in heater but have found it more efficient to just boil the kettle and pour it in.
The trick is not to use the ultrasonic as the only cleaning method but as one of the final stages in cleaning operations in addition to the normal degrease, solvent wash and air line.

We use IPA or lotoxane at work....works well......you can get IPA on ebay

I sell a great tfr I buy it in concentrate then break it down to a 10-1 solution kind to all pressure washing equipment, I used this in my little ultrasonic cleaner with great success on my floatbowls and jets then blew them out with a compressor before dry, for things that don't come out, my thou RX has atmospheric snorkels, you know, no overflows! faster you go, forces more air into carbs, there are very tiny inset jets which don't come out so carb cleaner and compressor oh and magniyfing glass coz they're so bloody small, but are crucial to starting, but don't get it in your eyes coz carb cleaner stings, oh it buggers plastic manifiying stuff too.

Thanks so far guyz. Using straight paraffin at about 60 degrees c at the moment but not too impressed..
I can see IPA would be an effective degreaser even without ultrasonics.

Oh tried a weak solution of soap powder and tap water. After a 15 minute dip in the U.Sonic tank the carb surface started to oxidise!!!!! ie white deposits starting to form...hence the move to paraffin.

Jes probably spends most days getting covered in the stuff while doing his job .
He did look very clean though when i saw him last year

Don't use any flammable liquids it's very dodgy practice.
The white deposits are from the wash powder, not oxidization.
I've been through all the possible solvents, soaps and de-greasers and found just plain water to be most effective.
No point sticking in greasy/oily items in as soft deposits just absorb the cavitation and it won't shift.
Best to manually degrease with a brush and petrol etc before putting in the tank.

I'm in the same boat, wondering what to use for carbs. When I bought my ultrasound machine I also bought 2 bottles of fluid. One is for rust the other for grease. I guess the grease one is first to try but won't be for a couple of weeks yet. Will post with results
