Sprocket spacing

Been looking on internet about this I am fitting a new chain and sprockets should have went for a 530 conversion but didn't so got a 630 o ring chain and sprockets . My rear sprocket is fine and I have the standard spacer behind it. But my front sprocket is totally flat so should I fit a 1.5 mm spacer behind this as recommended by Jeff at z1 enterprises at the moment the chain is very close to engine casing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as bike is now in bits with what should have taken a couple hours now taking a couple of days
