On opening up the engine of my new project bike, a Z1000A2 was pleasantly surprised to find a Wiseco 1105cc piston kit inside. However my joy was soon tempered by the discovery of damage to piston no.4 where the top ring had broken up and wrecked the piston and bore. Head ok though.

However, if I am not mistaken these are Wiseco cast pistons. Never knew they made cast pistons, but as you can see they definitely are not forged. I am guessing they are old as the Wiseco logo is 70's style, and maybe Wiseco started out casting pistons for the Jap fours?

When you reference Wiseco 4052, either on their website or through distributors its all modern designed forged pistons. I would like to try and source 1 x replacement cast piston and keep the other 3 as they are all very useable and have little wear or scoring of skirts. Obviously I will need new rings.

What I know:

Wiseco 4052 cast piston circa 1978, 73mm diameter, 10.25:1 comp ratio.

Can anyone please help either find me a new or 2nd hand piston in good condition, or direct me somewhere I may be able to track one down.

Or does anyone have any more knowledge or info for these pistons?

Cheers

I have a full set of 4 - 73mm Wiseco pistons and rings in good condition
reason for not using - replacing with 72mm Wiseco Pistons and rings in new barrels and head

But the postage from South Africa could be expensive

They ARE forged not cast.
I have the exact same pistons with the early style 'W' logo on.
