Having been left stranded more times than I can recall by bike alarms that malfunction at the most inopportune moments, I say consider giving them a miss.
Most people ignore alarms when they go off any way.

Datatool demon is easy to fit,2 wires,I always like to have an alarm because if it goes off in the middle of the night
I will get out of bed! Also if some numpty touches it whilst I'm in a cafe/bike shop/pub I will be able to politely tell them to fuck off

+1 on the poor review of alarms.
Our older bikes have parts that are virtually irreplaceable and it would be easy for any knowledgable thief to relieve these parts without setting off any siren.
Get a good shed alarm and don't let it out of your/someone else's sight when out.

Roy, i've had a Meta T357 V2 fitted to my zx7r for 6 years with no issues....fitted one to the zed as well. The only alarms i've ever had issues with were data tool. Pete Mouncer, aka "the bike alarm man" will fit for a reasonable price.

You don't always get change with a good lock...they are quite expensive
