Another carb holder question Z650

I am ready to refit the carbs with new holders and airbox rubbers (can't abide messing with old hardened rubbers) and the Kawasaki workshop manual says to fit the 2&3 with the vacuum take-offs facing up and out and the 1&4 facing down and in. I may be wrong as it's from memory but in principle, does it really matter? I've always fitted them all facing down and out either side. Is there any point in fitting them as per the manual (more accurate measurement when balancing) or is it just for ease of access?
What's the consensus guys?

Personally I don't think it matters, my genuine wsm shows pictures in first part of book up to the supplements with take offs all pointing down and outwards. Then in supplement says install 1 and 4 pointing in and up and 2 and 3 pointing out and down (opposite of what you posted Colsummer).
I rebuilt my F1 with them all down and outwards and it set up fine and ran well. Crofty

Thanks guys, think I'll go for neatness. It would trouble my OCD if they were pointing all over the shop.
Crofty - I had a 50% chance of getting it right, thankfully I'm not a gambling man!

Mine are down and out (a bit like the owner). I have never seen a Z650 any other way either ....

Every bike I ever had has had them down and out, that's why I was quite surprised to see the Kawasaki workshop manual state otherwise.
