Zephyr swingarm sleeve - how and where from?

#1 PostAuthor: trackdayrider » Sun May 25, 2014 7:08 am

Hello all

signed up a couple of years ago with the start of a project Z1000, but things got a bit delayed by other issue (Like heart surgey!)

My previous posts appear to have vanished...
Anyway - back on track and want to get the bike back together this year.

So...
I did a quick search but didn't really find an answer so thought I might ask the advice of those more experienced in the solution I'm looking for.

Fitting a Zephyr 1100 swingarm into a z1000A frame?

I have read about "sleeving" the swingarm, but looking at it, it seems any sleeve would be a very thin affair?

what do I need and is there anyone local to Sheffield I could approach to get something made up?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Zephyr swing arm sleeve

Mark,

I did the zephyr swing arm conversion a few years ago on a Z1000 that I later sold -duh

Tony from Pitstop 01942 684684 (located in Leigh/Lowton near Z-power) did it for me

simple enough to do, he made it in 2 parts (can't remember why) but it fitted a peach and made the conversion easy

Don't hesitate -get over to have it done

I am not sure how similar the dimensions are between a Z1000j and z1000a but I made up a simple spacer on my lathe.
Dimensions are length 238mm od20.22mm id 16mm

I have put a ZRX1100 swing arm into my Z1100R and basically used some steel precision tube with an OD 20mm and ID 16mm which I bought off Ebay.
