But the A2 number never started untill 042501, which makes the above number an A1.
Are you saying that the A1 only sold 4018 units worldwide Steve, or am I missing the point, or have you missed a number out?

4018 is the start number for models made in America.
Ian your number refers to an A1 or B1 ltd, A2s start at 040605, The A1 should have a nylon thread to the clutch actuation mechanism, I think this is the only difference engine wise between them, but if people have any sense they've replaced it with a later "ball" mechanism. Z1Rs are D1s and have a D in the number instead of the A in AE.
Which is all irrespective really but you may buy me a pint for it!

Just checked not the nylon type so does that make it a B1 or an A1 that has had a later mech fitted. Not too fused just wanted to make sure I had genuine numbers.
I'll buy you a pint Rich just because you replied without mentioning S*****N frames.
Cheers Ian.

According to your frame numbers it'll be an A1 or B1, same engine - just the B1 was the American chopper thing! The nylon actuator was used upto engine 25467 and superceeded by the ball version which was much better, so I would expect your engine to be a late A1.

Cheers time to get stripping the thing and hope I find nothing untoward lurking inside! Has Dyna S ignition fitted which was a nice bonus. Hobbo thought it had the system fitted but we never checked when I collected the engine.
