hi could anyone help please. I have a Z1b that has been imported & stood up for about 3 years. Ive tidied the bike up & looks very nice but i have a problem. When you start the bike after about 3 minutes of running in neutral or riding the bike about 5 to 10 minutes the main 20A fuse blows. Its done it several times now. Ive changed the regulator & rectifier from my other z1b & the fault still occurs. With a clamp on ammeter that is calibrated the current drawn is no higher than 6 to 7 amps. Any help pls would to be great. regards gerald

HI Gerald, sounds like a short to me connect a 12volts lamp in parallel with the 20amp fuse this should indicate when the short occurs ie it will glow brighter,it may be case of isolating circuits to find the fault favourites are the loom to the bars, cut out switch but of course it could be anywhere as the B only has this one fuse and has no segregation for separate circuits..Good Luck Paul J

Inspect the blown fuse if it is heavily blackened or shattered you are looking for an intermittent dead short, which you will only find though a process of elimination. A lightly blown fuse indicates a slight overload. I have had problems with the poor contact in the fuse holder causing it to overheat. This in itself could be enough to melt the fuse.

I would fit the relay mod as a matter of course
