Swing arm bearings gpz11 uni-trak ?

#1 PostAuthor: snotie1965 » Sun Apr 20, 2014 12:57 pm

I am in the middle of changing my s/arm for another one off a uni-trak,
But i am stuck on getting my old bearings out !
Is there a good method to remove them ?
I have tried different bars ,and carefully taping them out while trying not to damage the inner part of the s/arm ! but the lip on the bearings is so small it is hard to get a good contact ?
I have new bearings to put in after .

this is the proper tool to remove needle roller or taper roller bearings. you will need a piece of metal bar a couple of mm smaller than the outside of the bearing cage & make sure the end of the bar has a nice flat end so it will not slip of the bearing cage

proper tool

Cheers for that z1bman, i will take it to my machanic tuesday and see if he will let me use his special tool ? or he can do it ? i have now left it, before i do to much damage !!!

My 1st plan was to re-use my o.k ish bearings from my original s/arm ,but they are all in little bits now !!!

I am really glad it is raining !!! :o

What I have done in the past is use a Rawl Bolt and then knock the bearing out.
LE to JOG on a z900
