Clutch

Just fitted the clutch cable to the chain cover housing and all went back together lovely until I adjusted all the cables and when I thought it was good I pulled the clutch and it didn't move. Stripped all back down and it all looks ok!!!
Any ideas?

Does lever move at all or do you mean lever comes back to the bar with no tension?

The lever has been adjusted to give the correct play. When I pull the lever it do ant compress and the clutch cam doesn't rotate.

adjust the clutch lever adjuster so you can see about 10mm of thread. then screw in the centre cable adjuster all the way so you cannot see any thread. loosen the locking nut on the clutch adjuster in the casing & turn the screw in until it gently touches the push rod. do not over tighten at this point turn the screw back out half a turn & tighten the locking nut. then adjust the centre cable adjuster so you have about 3-5 mm of free play at the lever

That's exactly what I did word for word and when I pulled the clutch lever it was solid.
I assuming it should work. I only have the bottom half of the engine back together but the clutch is all in place.

slacken of the adjuster in the engine cover about 2 turns & see if it is any better ?

Ok I'll try that. Just a thought! Should I be able to push the clutch rod in? I'm guessing not with all those clutch springs but the rod does feel like it's hitting on a positive force.

if you have screwed the adjuster in too far ( with force ) it would have locked up. it will do the same if the clutch lifter is not set in the correct position

Z that makes perfect sense, i did back it of but maybe nor enough. Ill give it a go tonight.

That helix mechanism inside the cover can be in the wrong position,it has to move thru 90 degrees.This acts against the pushrod.
Also I have recently replaced the release mechanism,it consists of a thrust bearing and spigot,old spigot had worn 2mm,big improvement for $30

Did the ball fall out when you dis-assembled the clutch plates etc?

Ok had a good evening with my clutch last night and all is well with a nice smooth action in the clutch lever.
Should I be able to change down and up through the gears? I guessing not without any movement. 1st and neutral select ok.
Also have a annoying squeak very feint but annoying!
