Engine Rebuild

#1 PostAuthor: Wayne1960 » Mon Mar 17, 2014 1:17 pm

Ok Engine going back together. should i coat all the parts with oil as i am installing them?

If yes, does it have to be engine oil or can i use a spray? trying to keep it as clean as possible!!!
Just purchased a 1976 UK Z900 A4 for renovation. Wish me luck.

engine oil or assembly lube while building..

i normally use an oil car with bike 10/40 in it.

fill sump to correct level..

turn over (no spark) until oil light goes out.

Ideally you should use the same type/make oil that is going in the engine.
Just a squirt in the bearings will do.
Don't oil the bores though as this will prevent ring bedding if they are new.
I use Graphogen assembly compound on the piston skirts and on the cam shell etc but oil will do the trick.
