Gavin, that part is the heat sink for the "hazard switch regulator".
It is connected to the flasher unit, mounted off the battery box.
I don't think I have ever had the need to put my hazard switch on!
Part # 21066-o26 (Z1bman will verify)!

Thanks for this. Not sure if it applies to my A4 I can see the indicator relay and I have one of those.
I am still having probs with my hazard switch!
The book says to pull up the hazard switch when ignition is on or in park and the indicators will work.
Mine only work if ignition on and indicator switch turned to the left or right!!
Everything seems ok with all other lights and controls.
Any ideas?

There's also. a Buzzer that should be connected up to it too. have you tested the switch, is it working? I have restored 4 of these so far.. with a repaint of the bracket and knob lettering..

the buzzer fits on to the bottom of the headlight shell with an 8mm bolt
buzzer part no 27040- 002 csm have only got one left in stock $40.50
original hazard relay no longer available but this is identical & much cheaper you will just have to find the rubber that it fits into & is used to mount it on the battery box

Paul thanks for the vote of confidence I must say it does look special. Go out to the garage every night just to look at it.
Hoping to start it tomorrow but see what the weathers like!
