Hi everyone , my Z1000J is nearly finished but will only run on choke properly. Its running STANDARD 34MM CVS at the moment with standard bore and predator stainless pipe with unknown open can. The jets look clear but maybe a semi fuel or air way. I have a small ultrasonic cleaner that will do one carb at a time or maybe just an airline could do. Cheers Nick.

Hi Nick its important with Cv carbs to have correct exhaust, airbox, and of course clear jets, unsplit diaphragms, and a good seal around airbox covers, and good head to carb and carb to airbox rubbers can be a ball ache to get 100%....PaulJ

My zephyr would not idle properly today, that has CV carbs, found a split in a perished carb vacuum hose, temporary repaired that and it ticks over again.

May not apply to you but

Some of the Mikuni BS34 carbs had a cover over the pilot jet , inside the float bowl.
There is a cross drilling from the main jet holder to the pilot jet turret to allow fuel into the pilot circuit.

Worth ensuring that the alloy plugs are there if the carbs have the cross drilling.

Suzuki used rubber plugs instead of alloy ones. Much cheaper and still avaliable.

Thanks everyone, I'll have another look at them. The bike was running fine with a Harris pipe on a few years ago. Maybe I'll swap back the pipe. The predator worked fine on my 1100R which also has 34mm mukinis. I can even try the mukinis off the 1100R I guess. 15 or so years ago I tried some 33mm keihin CR'S which were a little rough in the low revs but then went like stink in the higher revs. These would obviously take some setting up but eventually I'd like to run it with them on if possible.
