Phil,

I've just knocked these up;

M8 bolts with the heads cut off & a bit of steel flat bar, left over from Coldsummers tennis court repairs. :sou

There is no notches to see, you need a tool like Steve made I had one made for me when you turn the cams you can measure from the top of the swingarm to the top of the bar both sides, both need to be in the same position, the tool I have fits snug into the cams

I have a pair very similar to those. Mine are made from M8 Rawl bolts, through some M10 Ali bar.

I have made a similar tool as shown, but then I use a protractor and set both sides at the same angle until the correct tension is set. Its a bit of a fiddle but spot on alignment is guaranteed. :D

Even if you measure the position of each eccentric in relation to the swingarm very carefully it doesn't mean that the bikes wheel alignment (front wheel to rear wheel) is correct.

Even on a modern bike you can adjust your chain & line up the adjuster marks equally & the wheel alignment is highly likely to be out.

The only way to get accurate wheel alignment is with a laser set up.
