Hi all.
I have had to replace the ignition on my Z. I also want to fit a new petrol cap as well. Taking into account the helmet lock, this will leave me with 3 different keys for the bike.
Has anyone found a way to change the barrels in the petrol cap and helmet locks so that I only have to use one key, that being the main ignition key.
Sorry if this particular key topic has been covered before, but having to use works computer and nasty boss keeping an eye on my internet usage !
Wardy.

How to avoid 3 keys for one bike
Thanks Mr Bear.
Yes my old petrol cap would open with anything vaguely resembling a key, even if it was made of butter.
My brand spanking new old one (original from Kawasaki) did not come with a key but neither would it work with any other key!
The link was good and I have kept it in my favourites, unfortunately they do not supply the lock set for the 1983 Z1000 models.
Guess I am going to have to cannibalise the new petrol cap and try and fit the key barrel from the old one. I hate bodges like this, but assuming it works I am still stuck with two keys, (one for ignition and dodgy petrol cap and one for the helmet lock) so if anyone has better thoughts feel free to let me know.
Cheers.
