Has anyone changed the lock in their seat lock ? If so how did you do it and where do you get replacement locks?

Bizarre coincidence here, if your bike is a Z1, Z1A, Z1B - as I am just about to change the seat lock on my Z1B.

Z1 Enterprises, Z Power, Z1 Parts.net, web bike.japan all sell replacement lock sets for Z1 (1972-1975) which include - steering lock, ignition, and seat lock. So you end up with one key for all three.

Not sure of the correct proceedure for changing the seat lock. But looking at it yesterday, it looks like to un bolt the seat lock,
you would have to remove the inner mudguard first,
to remove the inner mudguard you have
to remove the chrome rear mudguard
to remove this you have to remove the grab rail and the tail piece.

Although I have read somewhere it is possible to undo the bolts which hold it in place (without removing anything else), and fit a new seat lock. But it is very fiddly.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to best method.

I'm surprised that the lock barrel can't be replaced. It is obviously separate to the casting.
I am going to try and strip it down to see what's what.
Nothing to lose.
