Z1B Engine cases
can anyone tell me if it is possible to turn a Z1B upside down and remove the bottom half of the engine cases without disturbing anything else? I have an oil leak between the top and bottom half of the cases!
Dave,
yes you can split the cases without taking off the head and barrels.
You would need to drop the cams out first if you wnat to take the crank out though.
I am just about to do one of mine, and bought a complete seal kit for it from z-power surprisingly cheap, and as the kit contains everything you need its worth replacing them when you do it.

Dave,
Yes it is possible to split the cases & leave the barrels, pistons top end etc in situ.
Remove all the outer covers. & points & inner points case
Remove the starter motor
Remove the Top crankcase bolts
Turn over & remove the sump & oil pump.
Remove the remainder of the crank case Bolts
It is strange to have a leak between the crankcase halves??
I have just changed out my clutch basket, but left the barrels & pistons in place.
