Bikini Fairing replacment Cibie twin headlights wanted

#1 PostAuthor: Wardy » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:49 pm

Hi All.

I have a twin headlight bikini fairing on my Z with 2 Cibie 55/60w light units.
Like this. http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/517931

Unfortunately the mounts that hold the bulb retainer wire (clip) in place have broken and I need to replace the whole Cibie units.
Both M&P and Skidmarxs used to supply these faringcomplete with lights and i have contacted both on a number of occasions asking where they obtain the light units, but have never had a response.
Also a good few hours has been spent searching the net for a Cibie light supplier but again without luck.
Can anybody point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your help.

Does it have to be Cibies? The same size of light are standard fit for slabside GSXr. Quick eBay search will flush these out for you and the mountings are same.

Hi

Is it a retaining wire that has 2 legs and is hinged onto a ring that has

notches in it ? -- if it is the retaining ring/clip unit is just pushed into the

hole in the back of the lamp and can be CAREFULLY levered out with a

small screwdriver (there are 3 small rectangular holes around the ring --

if you have a look you`ll see what i mean ),

If this is the case i may be able to help you -- i think i have an old one of

these fairings in the garage but i think the reflector has gone in one lamp.

Are both units broken or just one ?

Regards
Mick

Hi Steve.

Yes please by all means have a conversation with M&P.
I feel it would be by far the easier solution.
Thank you.

Martinz & JB. Thanks for this info; I will look into this after hopefully hearing from Steve.

OldZed. I had found that Valeo own Cibie but still struggled to find the options the rest of your found. Doh.

Sockpuppet. The springs are fine, it’s the point at which the springs attach to the back of the reflectors that has broken – on both units so I intend to buy two new ones for peace of mind.

Lads Thanks for your prompt replies it’s very much appreciated.
Cracking Club this.

Wardy.
