Are you talking of the round banjo fittings? if so you should have a copper seal each side of it, don't suppose you have new banjo bolts and they are very slightly longer than the originals?

Hi no i am talking about the hard pipe connection to the calliper the bendy metal pipe that goes into the top of the front disk caliper. i have screwed it down tight but it is still loose!

Sounds like something is missing.

Or you have an issue with the male / female taper??

I know the hose you mean, 6" or so long, connects caliper to brake hose. I remember the one on my 750 always spun round with no leaks. Didn't seem to tighten, must be how they are meant to be.

dont you just love it when someone tells you something you realy want to hear.
Thanks for that. Not sure how it doesnt leak when you think of the pressure your pushing in but ill take your word on it.

No problem. Not sure how it works either, but it didn't leak. Hope it works out ok. I can't confirm for sure if there was a seal but there was a fitting at the end of the metal hose where it met the caliper.

The interior nipple within the caliper is probably worn and the flared end on the pipe bridge won't tighten down on to it fully to form a seal.
Just make sure the threads are clean/good right down to the nipple.

Hi Steve

Interior nipple? I have tonight removed the metal break line and checked the calliper inside the threaded hole. The bottom of the hole looks like it is slightly cone shaped and there is a hole in the middle which looks clean enough.
Threads are clean also but when I put the boreal line back in and tight there is a good 1mm slack movement and when I blow down the tube air escapes between the threaded bolt and the tube.
Doesn't feel right to me
Any advise?

your brake pipe should look like this
it might be that the brake pipe nut is not screwing far enough in to the caliper to compress flared end of the brake pipe

Yes 100% like that but it doesn't fully tighten down eg when fully wound down into calliper it still loose!

how far is the nut being screwed in to the caliper? can you see about 3 threads on the nut when it is fully tightened

Yes that's about right it feels like it has bottomed out ok and doesn't fee like it want to go any further. Same on both callipers.

does the thread in the caliper go to the bottom of the hole?
