Piston ring fitting

Just got a set of pattern standard 66mm rings from Z- Power at 17.50 a cylinder and was wondering if anyone knew the correct configuration for fitting them.
They all come out of the packet stacked the same way so I expect thats the way they go on the piston but just to confirm...
Bottom 3 piece oil ring ok no issue.
Middle ring is a darker coloured ring with the small id mark (STD) next to the gap, facing upward?
Top ring brighter finish with no visible marks fitted either way up?
I think the middle ring has a slight chamfer hence the id mark to fit the correct way up. (There is no small recess on this ring like the originals) I think the top ring is square so can go either way.
Am I correct in this assumption or does anyone know any different.?
Cheers Dave

Hi With regard to the ring you think may be square with no taper, butt it up against another ring on a piece of glass you will then be able to determine if they are square or tapered ,taper goes uppermost..PaulJ

Cheers Paul, scuse my ignorance but do you mean it should get wider towards the bottom or narrowet?

Top
\
Bottom

Or

Top
/
Bottom.

Hope this makes sense.

\ top like your first statement Dave like an arrow pointing up wards, make sure you crosshatch hone the bores and use cheapo mineral or running in oil for first few hundred miles and vary the revs running it in without labouring the motor..Paul J
