Will be fitting new chain & guides rollers etc this weekend. the little black plastic squares came off the roller shaft, can i just glue them back on. and are they facing up, when fitted,
Valves are ground, and have lots of shims,, new gaskets, any thing else you can think of,,?
Wrist pins changed too , stem seals also,

The 'UP' on the little dampener rubbers faces UP.
Best not to use them if they have gone hard and brittle as they can break up when the head is tightened.
They aren't glued on the idler shafts. just use a blob of grease to keep them in place whilst fitting the gasket and head.
Don't use any sort of sealer etc on them as it can get into the idlers roller bearings.

Make sure stem seals are genuine, seal half moons on head with RTv silcon,if you have changed front guide for chain put threadlock on crosshead screw, dont torque cam caps down as per manual settings, they sometimes strip if you do,only use a genuine rubber seal between head and cylinder block and pref gen head gasket, they do cost more but in long run dont leak all copies seem to!I have seen cam chains joined without spliitting engine if you are going down this route only nip up the soft link, over tightening will cause chain kink and probs,Goodluck...PaulJ
