i'd like to know the difference between a '82' LTD frame and a '82' J1 frame.

there's a cheap ltd frame on ebay, would it be suitable to use on my J1???

i don't mind adding to it, i'm thinking rear sub frame as long as the major stuff is the same, i.e. headstock, engine mounts, swingarm, etc. are the same

ta muchly, in advance. for you're wisdom

it will drastically reduce the value of your bike if you change the frame, but that may not be a concern to you.

Hi Phill.

I believe the LTD has a different head angle so unless you want to build a chopper  I wouldn't use one.

Cheers

As far as i know, the kickstart Ltds used basically the same frames but from the J type onwards the frame had different geometry to suit the 'Chopper' styling.

I was told once by I believe Steve Bateman,

Z1000 LTD 1981 onwards rake 29 degrees, Z1000 J has rake of 26 degrees, same as earlier zeds.

They also have lowered seat rails. I know of an ltd frame with v5 for sale if you are interested but they are quite a bit different to the J.
