Is it worth repairing? Would the cost of repair outweigh the
cost of a good condition second hand one?

Ideally prefer to have mine repaired z1bman. If a decent repair can't be done on it, I want the pre Z1000A's cam cover please.

Up to you, you're the Moderator. If you want to move these threads from Discussion section to Bike Help section.
Would it not be better if you move all the crap Jimmock posts on the E-Bay section to Off Topic?

just suggesting that any future ones are posted in bike help as that's probably the best place for them.
does that not make sense ?

Looks like an easy job for a tig welder.
Then it would be down to your skills with the drill, files and emery to reshape it.

I'd love to try my best at shaping it back to normal,
it'd be a great challenge. Just need to find a local tig welder.

Jay, It does look as so that camcover has been chrome, which will have to be removed.
The position of that break-away is pretty well out of sight and could be easily welded, however, knowing your obsession with originality, I would go for a s/h ebay one. Very common for cracks in the area of 6mm bolts
Do note the differences in these the early ones. They had no "bumps" in the centre casting where the centre sprocket protrudes.
Hard choice!

Hi Garn, yes I know the cam cover was chromed, as were all the other engine covers.
Dechroming will be done before welding. Z1 - Z900A4/A5 cam cover is what I want.
I'll repair the one in the pic above as practise.
If I'm not satisfied with the result, then I've got another idea.

This thread moved from Discussion section to Bike Help section.
For the record, I wasn't asking for help on this occasion. The original Topic was for Recommendation regarding welding cast aluminum.
