Guyz, thinking of doing a Z1000 restoration as my next project and was wondering if anyone does replica 4 into 2 pipes for them. Would love originals but I am told they are harder to find than original Z1 4 into 4's.

Hi Dave - no chrome replicas as far as I know and doubt there will be as so few Z1000's about now. I have a set on my Z1000A2 and have a mint spare set but as they are so rare it would be daft of me to sell them in case anything happens to the ones fitted.

You can get some made though in stainless steel by these guys and they look good apparently:

Cheers Tonka I will get a price and keep them in mind. :up
I'd be interested in anyones opinion on these pipes if they've have had any or a close look at a set. How close to the original etc.
Cheers Dave

Z1parts.net list a pair of "mufflers" but I don't see downpipes. I don't know whether these are an accurate copy of the silencers for an A1. $700 a pair.

Those are for a Z1R D3. As the Z1000A exhausts are not split you would have to hack off the silencers from the down pipe to try and make them fit.

Far as I know the osmc header pipes are single skinned so they will discolour.
Also saw a set of their headers on a Z650 and the bend was not sharp enough coming out of the head - it sort of drooped down where originals are nearer 90 degrees.
Think they make a decent repro Z1000 silencer though.
Exhaustcraft on here may be able to advise you Dave.

Mark ,never had a set of pipes discolour single skin or double,if your mixture is set up right and you use the gradual heat up and cool technique when fitting new pipes should be fine, was shown this technique years ago by a Brit bike rider always worked for me!
