Has anyone got any ideas why my speedo needle wobbles 10 mph in either direction arond 80mph.Have cleaned and oiled the cable and have also checked the drive but it still does it.Is there any way of checking the clock itself.

You could try ringing Chris Rivett, [his No is in the last club mag.]. He restores clocks for ZEDS and may be able to shed some light on it. There is [or should be!]some foam damping on the clock mounting bracket itself. You may find this needs replacing to stop the vibes.
I am sure i met you at Festival 1000 Bikes.[are you from Evesham?]
Hope the above is of some help,
Phil.

Thanks Phil,Yes did meet you at Mallory,we both enjoyed the day out, nice too meet some other members. So if the mounting rubbers are old the vibration will cause the needle too wobble. Will phone Z Power tomorrow and order a full new set of rubbers.Nice one, will let you know.....

Ok mate, no problem. Obviously new rubbers and replacing the foam has got to be cheaper than a clock re-build.
Hope you get it sorted,
all the best,
Phil.

Theres also damping fluid in the needle mechanism which can leak out over time, this causes the symtoms you have, I would have thought Chris can replace the fluid. I know because it happened to mine a few years ago, Chris was busy with other things at the time so Rick Brett done mine.

Thanks Bruce,if you have suffered with this problem then you must know how annoying it is wobbling away in the corner of your eye.Got some rubbers too fit on and try if not the damping it must be.Phil also mentioned trying Chris, that'll be a job for the winter....Cheers.
