I may have listed this in the wrong section in Discussions so have moved it here, my question is to ask what the best option is for a headlight/lamp on one of my Z-ST rebuilds as I seem to remember a thread saying Stanleys were not very good but I cannot find it on the search function.
With winter heading here I want to make sure I light up the road as best I can.
I have 2 headlights on my shelf:
One is marked Stanley 001-1970 on the glass and the other is marked Halogen Series 286 E11 on the glass but its shell is marked Stanley 001-0799.
It appears to have some sort of mastic /silicon seal on the glass to the chrome rim.
Is either one better than the other or either more sought after ? I am trying to decide which one to use on the projects and have just seen one on ebay that looks in better nick .

Or actually, while I am here is there a better light available now or one from another bike that would fit well and illuminate my world a little better?

THE ONE ON E BAY SHOULD BE FINE. A CANDLE WOULD GIVE OUT MORE LIGHT THAN THE ORIGINAL AS THEY WHERE NOT HALOGEN BULBS

You really won't go far wrong with an RD LC headlamp.
They fit straight into the Zed series bowl and rim if it is the type with a sideways adjuster screw.
The 55w60 bulb in this lamp can be improved but really it shouldn't be necessary.
This one is pattern and I have never seen one in the flesh but the important bit is that the reflector is clean and bright so if you can find a NOS original one in good condition that would be superior.
