As above, to come and look at my Z1b.
It runs [poorly]
Carbs done by Gez/Ged
Timing done + new stator plate, plugs etc, etc.

Just need some one in the know to take a look.

OK, so yesterday I checked the pilots and main jets, all clean and clear.
Rechecked points, timing [with a strobe light]
Fitted new suppressor caps and plugs.
Still the same
Starts fine, runs for about 5 mins, misfires and then splutters to a stop.

Its as though is warming up, electrically ? and causing the issue ??.
I know NOTHING about electrics. :??

Thanks to those who have responded to my post. But I think I really need a mechanic/electrics guy to diagnose the problem and was hoping to find some one local as I don't have a way of getting it to anywhere!

sounds like fuel starvation, check tap etc, vent if fitted to tank cap is clear to prevent a vacuum forming, vac hose to tap not kinked, run engine disconnect fuel line see if it is pulling fuel thru tap-catch fuel in a suitable container, fuel filter blocked etc good luck

Thanks for that.
But it is not a fuel issue for sure.

Coils ??

When it splutters to a stop, does it drop down to 2 cylinders ?? then nothing or does it drop down 1 cylinder at a time ??

Does it have points or electronic ignition ??

Points ignition.
It usually misfires then stops.
It will start up again straight away but then splutters to a stop again.

Because I have tested all the usual things, I am fairly sure its electrical. So you may be correct with coils, I don't know how to check them

The same sort of thing was happening on my z1000 it would come to a stop after about twenty minutes of riding. Then I would have to wait for a while before I could ride off again one of the coils was not tight enough so make sure your coils are bolt tight to the frame this may be the cause

Are the valve clearances ok Gary? That will cause hot running problems if you have a tight valve.

Ade,
I have not gone into that yet, as I am not good with 4 strokes! Hence I think I need a spanner man
Thanks for your input.

Just been and checked, all are tight.
As an aside to this, the frame has been powder coated, do the coil bolts need to go to bare metal?, ie could the powder coating be an issue at this point?
