how much oil

Just wondered how much oil other peoples Z1's take, manual says 4L ? Mine is holding 3L & showing just above the top line

Have you changed your oil filter that holds some ?
I always turn the engine over on my Z 1300 then when it settles check the levels again.

changed oil & filter & put 4L as per manual but filled the sight glass & couldn't get a reading, ran the bike for a couple of trips but still seemed too full, so drained oil but left filter in & this time put 3L in & its spot on just above top line

If i fill either of my 1000s to the top line they smoke like a crematorium chimney .
One of them could do with stem seals though .
