Hi Guys, I'm at the end of my tether trying to fit the airbox to carb rubbers on my CSR1000. I know I can soften them up a bit with a heat gun but will they stay that way or do they go hard again when cold ? Or does anyone know of a solution I could soak them in to keep them supple permanently ? thanks to all replies, $

Where do i get that kinda stuff ? sounds like bomb making equipment lol. $ OK just googled it, so it's thinners and anti-rheumatic oil. I know it's not very subtle, but I dip them in BOILING water for 10 seconds and then put them on. The boiling water turns them really soft again for a short time, but if you're quick you can get them on and then unfortunately they go hard again.
If they've shrunk I seal any gaps with marine self sealing rubber tape, which looks very similar in colour and is usually under the clamps anyway.
I've tried loads of the restoring methods using Shoe Waterproofing Silicone etc. and the Wintergreen Oil one as well, but none of them are trully effective

OK guys thanks to all replies. I'm gonna try the thinners method first then boiling water then a heat gun. I would love to just chuck em but I'm spending way more than I'm earning on my bikes at the moment and have to call a halt to it some time. I didn't see any on ebay for sale, where would I get some if I do decide to buy new uns ? Are they dear ? $

OK thanks mate. It'll be my last option though. They're still a bit soft but just not that soft enough to work with. I had to abandon doing it yesterday, bloody midges near ate me alive, even going into my eyes, relentless little B******S. $z1bman wrote:AIR DUCT PART NO = 14073-1048 £10.14

PSB did a feature a couple of months back on the wintergreen trick they reckoned it worked too !
