what is the air screw adjustment for 1000R?

They are fuel metering screws not air bypass screws. The further out they are the richer the idle mixture will be. 2 1/2 turns could be correct depending on many other factors which effect it like fuel level, cleanliness of pilot drillings, valve timing etc etc etc etc.
Mine are there or thereabouts and its fine. Set them with a colourtune to be confident of what you have got.
If it pops back a little on startup they are just about perfect. Choke will overcome the spitting but its to offset the weakness as they like a rich mixture to get them going.

I think standard is 1 1/4 but with petrol from 30 years ago unlike the watered down shite they serve up now.
Evaporation seems to be a significant problem now and a hot engine / carbs at stop will partition the volatile fraction away leaving the padding behind.
Next cold startup and its not getting petrol it gets something that looks like it but doesnt do the same job hence the need for a rich / overly rich idle setting in my opinion.
