Hi, found out that my generator wasn't charging properly(cheers Al) and on the strip down I found out that the rotor had been hitting it. It was a replacement one from Elextrex and read that they dont fit properly.
Can some one suggest an alternative supplier
cheers Rob

I should have tested the plug (un-plugged) to earth but forgot.
Where is it hitting the stator???
Is it actually hitting the bent spring clip that holds the wires or hitting the stator core itself?
The spring clip jumps out at the bottom from behind the two raised nipples in the alt casing itself.

Al, dont worry about missing out anything, I checked it out at home using the manual and its knackered. The rotor has picked up on only part of the magnet and has removed the laquer but all the way around small holes are starting to become apparent, so I dont want to risk the magnet breaking at high speed. The mounting holes in the stator look elongated which could have caused the wear pattern. I have checked the crank and that has no movement in it

I think those electrex rotors (RO 5????) are a compromise rotor that fits several different models.
They have a keyway which is prone to splitting i hear.
It may cause them to run eccentrically.
Dont think there is another re-manufactured alternative.
I think the 1100 Unitrak ones look better quality and have what looks like less fragile magnets.
If you have an original core i believe you can transplant the rotor body to it from the ZX6R possibly ZX7R.
This needs to be checked though.

If it's any help - I bought a replacement from Debben and couldn't see any difference from the one removed (apart from having some output wigglies that is):

the rotors from Electrex world should have a steel cage covering the magnets to prevent them from breaking up . genuine Kawasaki rotor magnets are glued to the rotor + don't have the steel cage + are notorious for failing / breaking up. is the stator fitted squarely in the cover ?
