Sooty plugs

#1 PostAuthor: ac/dc » Wed Aug 21, 2013 6:41 pm

Hi All tech heads

I have the 2 left plugs running reasonably clean
The 2 right plugs well sooted up
Setting are about the same on all the carbs
Is this a sign of a failing coil ?
Bike is a UK 1976 Z900 A4

Thanks

not coil related as it would affect cylinders 1+4 or 2+3. probably carb related invest in a colour tune

Still could be electrical? Have you got +12v at coils when bike is running?

Swap (1 & 2 - with 3 & 4) spark plugs - HT leads & caps.

Run bike whilst on centre stand (keep it level) - turn off fuel then stop engine. Drain each carb & measure what comes out each & compare qty.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
