if you can get them opened up to 33 mm they are choked down to 29 in the middle. the 29 mm part unbolts and is easy to get machined. you will need 120 to 125 mains and a long straight to do a plug chop. lift the needles one clip and make sure the accelerator pump is working at abount quarter throttle. you may need to cut the pump rods down to get this. you must use a push/pull throttle or you will not stop at the end of the straight. you may need z1000j carb rubbers. if you get it right it will be **** off a stick at quarter the price of smoothbores. you will have to reset the float heights to allow for the carb tilt. have fun

I'd give them a good clean first, check all the air/fuel ways before you do anything. I've just bought a set and am half way through giving then a good clean / refurb and half of the jets/emulsion tubes holes/ fuelways were blocked and then set the fuel height to suit the pilot jets you have (20s in these) then go mains / needles / mixture screw. Check both fuel bleed holes for the pilot system are clear as two of mine were blocked, but they hadn't been used for some time.

Cellulose thinners works a treat to get the crap off - thanks to whoever suggested it.

thanks for your help so far people, i'm getting there, just need to lift the needles now, and i'll be chasing f16's by teatime....anyone got a pound shop near them ? if so look out for a cleaner called elbow grease, its a spray, glows like nuke waste !!!!... it'll make your carbs look like new, and it gets brake dust off a treat to, in short, it's fuggin brilliant....use it with hot water on aluminium......

Make sure that it isn't caustic soda based (ie oven cleaner) if it is it will probably want neutralising after use.
