G'day all, I've bitten the bullet and completly pulled down my motor, just as well 'cos the timing chain is stretched to buggery, the cam chain idler and front guide are knackered and one piston is stuffed
. What is the better idler to use, Liske or standard? ive heard that the Liske is noisy but a better proposition because they are built better and you can put a continuous chain with them. What do you reckon?

The continuous chain is used when the engine is first assembled. To use a continuous chain you have to split the engine cases.
The Liska parts are much heavier duty - they are designed to take a pounding in race engines. The downside is the noise - you'll hear a noticeable increase in clatter from the chain - it's not bad, just a little noisier.
I would probably lean in the direction of the Liska parts for most engine rebuilds unless it's a restoration project.
Personally I don't like joining cam chains - but I know many people who do...
You can only get the master links for the standard duty cam chains - the Tsubaki Heavy-duty chains only come continuous - and you can't buy a master link for them.
