Progressive springs & fork oil.

#1 PostAuthor: Bishop Zed » Thu Jun 20, 2013 4:40 pm

I got a new pair of progressive springs from Z Power for my Z1B.
New stanchions, seals & fresh oil change at the same time, the bike is now pretty good for a 'mature lady' at higher speed and handles the road well but bouncing at the front at slow speeds. I reckon the standard 10 weight oil should be ditched and much lighter one used.
I've got the recommended vol of oil in each leg. New BT45s (slightly increased pressures), New Ikon Dial-A-Rides on the back set on 2 & 2.
Handling and adjustments is subjective but does anyone have any experience on this set up? Any info greatly appreciated. Mature older lady jokes...encouraged!

Might be worth giving these guys a phone call, and ask for advice
on suitable fork oil etc. They even do
learning courses for suspension enthusiasts - beginners through
to professionals as well as selling parts and servicing
everything hi-tec you could imagine
for forks and rear suspension http://www.reactivesuspension.com/suspensionschool.php

Have you got the tight coils on your progressive at the top? would use a heavier oil meself!

usually with progressive springs they state a dimension to fill the forks to with oil from the top of the stanchions when they are fully closed ( usually written on one end of the box) rather than a specific volume of oil to be used.....did you try that or did you put the required volume out of the Kawasaki manual ? just thinking aloud really

Couple of things to think about there.... Dunno about the tight coils at the top PAULJAC47 coz I got them done by a local repair shop.... I'll ask (if they can remember) and I agree, a heavier oil you'd imagine would be better.

I also thought of less oil than the recommended volume but went with the Haynes manual 169cc. I'll check that too mike_p

I'll get onto Reactive Suspension too Jay, Cheers.

Info and comments appreciated folks.
