Coil firing order Z1000A1

#1 PostAuthor: JohnC » Mon Jun 17, 2013 4:46 pm

Can someone confirm:

Left coil black wire fires 1 + 4

Right coil green wire fires 2 + 3

Not sure this is right as manual says diff but found this on the net for Dyna coils.

hi john

when we looked at this last week your coils were wired 1+4 to green and 2+3 to black.

your bike was running on 3 this way

Its not what is right that matters its what works.

Cheers Craig, just double checked they way they are now. Poss changed by my bodgery since your visit :)

Left coil - top Dyna connector - black wire in a connector block with a red wire also connected

Left coil - bottom Dyna connector - single red & Yellow wire.

Right coil - top Dyna connector - single black & red wire

Right coil - bottom Dyna connector single green wire.

I'll go and try / check 1+4 to green and 2+3 to black again.

Hi john

we changed the ht leads not the black and green wires.

but if your bike ran after the dyna leads were fitted you must have got them right.
the ht leads on each coil spark at the same time. a "wasted spark" system

Hmmm. Something amiss here........

Possibly then Craig why my bike was wired 'back to front' as you said.

z1bman / Craig, I'm thinking my Dyna set up is completely foobared? Another well meaning m8 wired this up for me but the bike ran well before hand. Perhaps I really am clutching at straws?

Any idea what goes where now?

the black wire is for the left coil = 1&4
the green wire is for right coil = 2&3
the yellow with a red tracer is the live feed from the kill switch + goes to both coils. in your photo is shows a red wire connected to the black where does that red wire connect to? if you have dyna s ignition the red wire from the pick up' should go to a switched live from the ignition switch = brown. if the black with a red tracer is connected to the yellow with red tracer connect them to the coils it doesn't matter which coils they are connected to
