no :( follow the wires from the generator into the main control panel i think it is the blue block connector. it should have 3x yellow 1x green with red tracer + 1x blue with red tracer. connect your yellow wires from the combined unit to the yellows in the block conector

Z1b man has just helped me this week with a similar problem, however, in this case he may not be as clear as he usually is!

The connecting block for the combined rect/reg goes to either the green or the white terminal block, they have identical wiring. These blocks are the usual blocks for the separate regulator and rect, respectively.
The yellow, pink and light blue are connected to the 3 yellow wires in either green or white connector block. The red is connected to the white wire in the same connector.

I always use the 6 wire combined unit which also has a "switch" brown wire. Yours is a 5 wire unit! I must admit, I am always at a loss to know the implications of not having this sixth brown wire.

Wayno, sorry I gave you a bit of mis-information in my last post...
As stated, I always use a Six wire combined reg/rect not the Five wire.

Note that the light blue, pink and yellow wires are common on the white, green and blue terminal plugs, however, the blue plug contain these wires coming directly from the alternator, whereas all three of these wires feed the green and white plugs.

My mistake to you, is to say that the white wire is connected at one of the above plugs, however, I notice that the above three mentioned blocks, do not contain a white wire. The white wire is in the brown plug, which gets its power from the white wire from the +pos of the starter terminal/+ve terminal.
You can see I just don't know how to handle this without utilising the brown (switch) wire. I don't know the consequences of not utilising this brown wire. Someone will help, as I know some people do use the 5 wire unit.

Hi Garn 5 wire unit just does not need the brown switch wire i have used both types,i usually use the back brake switch live side to feed the brown.

yes garn i stand corrected. i thought the original rectifier had a blue block connector + connected to the blue which goes down to the generator to pick up the ac feeds sorry if it caused any confusion

To satisfy Wayno and myself...
setting up the Five wire combo rect/reg unit.
The 3 wires all yellow (or light-blue, pink and yellow) connect to the green or white plug.
The black wire goes to earth.
The red wire connects to positive from main positive lead which goes via a fuse and starter solenoid terminal.

Will that work? or should the red wire connect to a brown (switch) wire
In which case, what is the advantage of a six wire over a five wire? or vice versa~
