Fitting A4 Brakes - How can it be so fecking difficult

Ive been a few months getting, refurbed disks, calipers, new splitter, new hoses: came to fit all my shiny new bits this weekend; and to my "surprise" found there was not enough clearance between the disks and the fork leg to mount the "caliper carrier" :confu :turd :turd :dead2 :dead2

I thought standard A4 Hub and A2 calipers & fork legs should fit: can anyone confirm if this is true ?? I may have cocked up and need a rethink !
Cheers

front hub + brake disc are the same as z1000 a1/a2. front callipers are z1000 a1/a2 only so are the fork lowers it must be your callipers that are wrong?

Z1000A2 calipers are mounted behind forks and are not the same as Z900A4 - Z1000A1 which are mounted on the front (Bleed nipples are situated in a different position also)

Thanks guys - this really has got me scratching my head, in between bouts of uncontrollable Tourettes
Problem I have is the space between the disk rotor and the inner fork leg is just too tight to accommodate the mounting plate. My bike has A2 fork legs, and I was fitting correct A2 Calipers and A2 mounting plate onto an A4 hub and spoke wheel (currently has AP calipers fitted). I fitted some refurbed discs which are 6mm: I think back in the day the original twin disks were only 4.5mm, but I cant believe that is the route cause, and that tolerances are that close. My only other thought was the Hub, but its a standard A4 Hub ??

At 5.00PM it became a "phone a friend" situation: Friday this week it gets looked at by someone who can tell the difference between his a4se and his elbow: unlike me

41034-040 supersedes to 41034-041 so they must be the same. the search engine i use lists 41034-041 fitted to z900a4 /z1000a1/a2 kh 500

Are th AP calipers anew addition or previously fitted?

I've got AP on 1 of my bikes and the fork leg lower has been machined down.

I just read it again....your taking AP calipers off? Going back to standard ?
I'm confused. :?:

Yes, I'm removing AP's as they have warped my disks within 2000 miles
First piccy is meant to be the "before" piccy with AP's, second was meant to be the "after" piccy with new (ish) disks fitted, new calipers, hoses etc but I had to abort after only fitting the disks.

Hopefully Friday may prove more successful :??

Keefleaf, did your AP's chew up the disk rotors at all ??

They're on yet another "project"...no miles, but they came off a mates Z1000 and he had no problems.

Well I finally got my AP calipers off and my Kwak A2 Calipers all fitted and nicely aligned; final job (in readiness for the Skeggy Run on Sunday) was to simply fit my new Hel Performance brake hose kit.

Imagine my joy when I discover all 3 hoses are the wrong length and 2 have the wrong banjo set up - thanks very f#cking much Hel for screwing up my weekend !
I had actually phoned Hel to explain what I wanted (even the length of top hose), and was assured these were specifically for Z1000 A2 set up and would fit a perfectly - not sure what set HBF 4318 is actually designed to fit.

I know I need a 390 top hose (high bars) - can anyone confirm the length of the lower hose from splitter to rear mounted caliper - I think its 500 - 520mm.
Cheers
