Going to and from the power lode last weekend my Z1000 seemed to have
developed the exhaust smoke output of a triple.

The re bore with wiseco pistons etc has only done 12,000 miles at the very most if that, tore it all apart got no real measuring tools but measured the ring end gap and can get a 25 thou feeler gauge in there, placed the pistons in the bore and can get 4 to 5 thou feeler gauge between piston and bore,
apparently so im told where i had the re bore done his reputation had been steadily going downhill before i had mine done  not measured pistons but they seem hardly marked, if they are ok could i get another block on a standard bore size and have it re bored to my pistons?

Mikey, I had my 1170 re-bored with a fresh block, using the Wiseco pistons previously fitted. I had new Wiseco rings delivered from Z1 enterprises at a cost of about £100.

Yes! You can re-use the pistons as many times as you like .
Will just have to re-ring of course.
I take mine to Arnetts at doncaster . Proper job.

I think you should "name and shame" But only if you know 100% that work was done wrong ! and you have tried to resolve the problem with the person or firm ?

sounds like valve stem/oilseals to me when you shut the throttle it creates a vacuum pulling the oil down the valve stems into the cylinders and when you open the throttle again burns the oil giving a puff of smoke worn bores/ duff rings would smoke all the time and you would notice exessive oil consumption

It is smoking all the time and heavy oil consumption
had the bores measured and they are oval
got another set of barrels so its re bore time.
