Hi Chaps,
I put a new clutch cable on my Z650 not so long ago, and I'm surprised how rusty the outer spring that protects it from the exhaust has become.
Has anyone got any recommendations non rusty clutch cables?
Stainless outer springs etc..?
Cheers,
Bongo.

I'm pretty sure "MotionPro" make the clutch cable with the metal spring to keep it away from exhaust. Haven't seen any with rust problem, however it's on the cards, if it's only zinc plated.
I agree it would be a great mod to have a stainless steel spring protector.
I would also like the top of both throttle cables (right-angle bends) to to made in stainless.

I reckon the genuine clutch cable finish seems to last pretty well.
Both my 70's ones still looked reasonable.
Probs not a good idea to get the spring bit wet when you are cleaning the bike as I reckon it would hold the water in our cool climate.
Perhaps the repro ones are not zinced so well?
I got a new old factory one for my 650 off fleabay.
Just need to watch the bar height cos euro and USA 650s need different length cables.
Dave at Z Power reckoned he was sourcing cables from the Japanese company that made them for Kawasaki (toyo I think) but I haven't tried those.
