Good Electrician for Custom Loom in SW

Hi all.

I'm going to have a crack at a new loom as my build nears assembly. But work may keep me away from it in the coming weeks / months and I WILL have this bike on the road for Summer.

Anyone know or recommend a good bike electrician in the SW area or within 100miles of London?

I jave a full garage space available and you can park your car / van right inside next to the bike of you need to with power and lighting all there.

Also, the loom is super simple - no clocks or indicators, its basically a lights / electric supply / engine / starter - thats it! Will also be using a MotoGadget so no relays or fusebox its pretty plug and play - ann all componentry is brand new so no manky bits to deal with.

The 95% confirmed loom is as below.

One important note - I'll be fairly fussy about where the cabling runs - want it as hidden as possible and I'd like quality terminations / plugs. No crimps / block connector etc.

If anyone wants to quote or knows anyone - please let me know.

I can also drop the bike to you if you are not far.

I have just finished making a wiring harness from scratch with a motogadget m-unit brain, have a look at my blog if you are interested. A few observations that you may find helpful, feel free to ignore.

The m-unit is a great piece of kit, highly recommended, but it has a few quirks. The unit will switch off the dipped beam when you select main beam, so wire the dipped beam via the Aux output if you want the dip and main to work at the same time. Depends on your headlight choice.

This also means that you have to wire the tail light (which seems to be missing...) off the Aux output.

You've got a black wire going from the reg/rectifier to the Aux on the m-unit which I think you will find is not needed, unless you've got a special reg/rec with some sort of additional control.

You haven't allowed for a kill switch. I would also recommend fitting a suitable fuse between the battery and the m-unit for safety.

To connect wires to the m-unit, I used bootlace ferrules with a special crimper and then sealed them with adhesive-lined heat shrink. The m-unit has screw terminals and if you use bare copper wires then you will probably have a loose connection problem at some stage.

Hope this helps and do ask if you want any assistance. Your loom will be pretty simple to make as long as you plan the details properly.

LondonZ1 - As you've made it look so simple, save yourself a bucket full of money and have a crack at it yourself :roll: It'll give you great satisfaction too.
That's how I learned how to wire bikes up some 26 years ago and I've been doing them ever since.
As long as you select the correct wire thickness and terminals etc. it's a doddle really.
After each connection made you can check immediately using a continuity tester or a bulb.

Completely bonkers. I was down at his place, I think he still lives with his parents - spent a lot of the time screaming at them even though he must be over 40.

Do it your self! It's not hard. Get the kit you need from Vehicle Wiring Accessories. Initial outlay on crimping tools etc is a little costly but you'll have them for ever. Still far cheaper than Ferret!
