Has any one put a decent thread with pics about raising or lowering the needle in the carbs,have searched but not found to much

The difficult part is removing the two philip head screws from under the slide to expose the circlip that locks in the needle position.
Can't find a decent thread on this procedure... Agree with others ... workshop manual or WiredGeorge.

Malc, have a look at <http://www.vintagebikeforum.org/>.
This is run by Wired George and he answers most questions.
You will probably find an expert in UK, however, it's good to find out a bit before you go to the carb mechanic.
