Carburetors adjustment

Hi,
I am doing the carburetors adjustment following the procedure on the shop manual.
As you can see from the images the distance between the tip of the screw and he plate is too much.
The screw is new and original.
Any help?
How can achieve the same distance as shown on the manual.

the throttle stop screw fully tight it just touching the plate.
it means that i cannot tight it more to adjust the idle.
moreover I cannot get 0.6-0.7 mm clearance.
In a couple of carbs I have almost 0.5 mm but in the other couple I have zero clearance even with throttle valve fully tight.
As you can imagine this is the first time in my life I am doing this job.
I don't want to fit the carbs not properly adjusted.
suggestions are more than welcome.

has the casting turned on the shaft check the clamp screw aint loose, somebody may have had it off at some point !

this is the carb installed when I purchased the bike.
It seems ok.
I bought the original throttle screw.
I thin I did something wrong during reassembling after cleaning...

to get your 0.6-0.7 mm clearance are you trying to achieve this by adjusting the closed throttle stopper screw? the screws that you should be adjusting are between the carburretors secured by an 8mm nut

This is clear. I bent a bit the small plate holding the idle throttle screw and now I get the clearance of 0.6.
In another threat you said:
sounds as if the slides are set to high to start with and won't go down far enough staying partially open , if the carb tops are taken off and slides lowered using the adjustment to lower the slides until they are right down, at the same time adjust the tickover screw so it is not contacting the web,you then set the slide heights as stated in the manuals,put the carbs back on and set up with vac testers you should also be able to adjust tickover then, hope this description is understandable. best of luck.
