reducing repaired thread

are there inserts available to put a 6mm thread that has been drilled and tapped to 8mm back to 6mm?

Had a large assortment of those, which i got from a german company that was installing a plating line for the company i worked for, they are brilliant inserts and a few went in my old nail when i had it, i'm down to my last few now.

Very timely post. All the threads for the cam caps in the head of my GPz are fooked. A couple previously repaired with helicoils but they pulled out with the bolts.
Will these work for this application? Was looking at Timeserts but my local engineering shop doesnt do them.

i don't think they would be suitable for repairing the cam cap threads as you need to drill a 9.5 mm hole + the cam bearings are too close to the thread. there is not enough material there without the insert coming into contact with the seating surface of the cam bearing

these may work on the holes with no dowels, when i had the same problem i made up a set of studs that allowed me to keep the dowels in their original positions, i also made up a combined insert with a dowel on them for mr puffin on here, the details are in previous post's, took a while to make the studs but my old bike is still running and out there 7 years later.
