I know there has been previous threads on this subject but here we go.
I normaly use Castrol GTX 10/40 mineral oil in my z1b however this is not so readily available but a part synthetic version is.
Is this not a good option and if not what would people recomend / where to get it from.

Alan, at my last oil change I refilled with GTX 10/40 and got clutch slip straight away.
200 miles later, drained and re-filled with Castrol Act EVO 10/40 mineral; had no problems since.

I had the same dilemma when my source of GTX dried up . I looked at various postings on the forum and did lots of research , settled in the end on Silkolene
Super 4 20w-50 semi synthetic proper motorcycle oil.

This stuff is available from opie oils online at about 30 quid for 4 litres . I had clutch slip issues before with car semi synthetic oil , but this dedicated bike semi synthetic seems fine and all my z's run great on it.

I have stocked up in case they discontinue this too !!

I have stocked up on this stuff,got it for about £9 for 5 litres from a local farm supplies...should be ok

Here is the link its gone up a bit,think they may have dropped a bollock its cheaper than going direct to the makers,my sheds got a shelf full of the stuff!!!!

You wont see it that cheap anywhere else and its good oil. Use it in all my bikes

Been using that stuff in me Trumpet for years now - I get it from the local Zummerzet/Dawsit Agricultural shops for about £13 a go ..... they also sell chain saws

No reason not to use it, but I just prefer to use POSH stuff in me Zeds... personal choice

Went into halfords today 15/40 mineral oil £15.99

Just use a correctly graded mineral or semi-synthetic motorcycle oil & you will have no problems - it's designed for motorcycle use.
In my Z1000 Mark2 I run Castrol Power 1 - 10/40 semi-synthetic with no clutch slip or any other issues.
