I`ve got a 1981 GPZ1100 which has had an aircraft type
fuel filler fitted and at the front of the tank an aftermarket
breather which I suppose is to replace the original which I
guess would have been in the standard fuel cap.
The problem is if you`ve got anything approaching a
reasonable ammount of fuel in the tank and you attempt
some spirited braking then you get fuel pissing out of the
breather, I tried fitting a catch bottle but it fills it up so
quick it`s just a bloody nuisance.
Has anyone got any ideas on this? is there a breather that
can let air in and out but not fuel?

If you`ve got any ideas please let me know cos it`s bloody
annoying.

Hi you can buy a one way breather that fits on the fuel overflow pipe and lets air in but no fuel out. I would try some one like Debbens. I had one fitted to my Harris Magnum worked fine no fuel starvation issues etc.

1/ Run a pipe from the breather to the back of the tank (inside the tank) which will stop the surge having such drastic effect.

2/ Mount the catch bottle higher than the tank and put the breather pipe down to the bottom of the bottle - when it fills up it will also suck it back into the tank when you're running.

3/ Fit a breather take off with the one way incorperated into it.

4/ Do as Ian says but fit a piece of rubber pipe between the valve and breather. They have been known to split tanks when the valve seals with the fuel expanding from the heat of stationary engine.
