I'm slowly bringing an Ozzy Z900A4 (same spec as your UK ones) back from the dead, in Marsdens Zed parts book is listed this regulator on page 59 for the A4, my wirings a mess but can't find it also can't find in a couple work shop manuals I have, any ideas what's it for? is it needed? where can I buy one?. Appears to be a push inline jobby, maybe for head light when switching from low to hi?

if its what i suspect it is a ballast resister for the ignition coils + is normally bolted on to the right hand coil + has two blue wires with a male + female connector + might have been bypassed. the two blue wire which it connects to from the wiring harness might have been joined together

That's z1bman, I know the resistor you mentioned, but it's this one found a pic on Fleabay but still no description what for? where it goes?

Not 100% sure but I seem to think it fits between the turn signal relay and turn signal buzzer/alarm.

Would need a A4 owner to confirm this though

Fits onto to hazard relay Z900-A4 and Z1000-A1, without it they don't flash proper.

as DogsbolloxofZ1B says it is for the hazards i think it is to stop electrical back feed to stop the headlight + instrument lights coming on when the hazards are switched on. they fit these on modern day alarms

"regulator" is what it's labels as in the parts book, there is a diode in the wiring diagram straight after the flasher unit. If you have one stick a multi meter on it to find out.

Why does it have spade terminals when everything else have bullets?

These items have nothing to do with the ignition coils and, I believe, they were a resistor in the headlight circuit to avert that "moment of darkness" when going from high-beam to low-beam and vice-versa.

They are positioned under the tank and are connected to the blue connectors from left & right-hand h'bar controls. I have never bothered with them and never had any adverse electrical problems.

The ignition "ballast" resistor is coil related and is a much larger resistor mounted on a special mount under the tank, near the headstoc, present on Z1R, Shaftes and others.

Correction to my above post. The small items pictured above are actually diodes.... No wonder I could only get a reading of ohms in one direction.

It has spade terminals instead of bullets to prevent connecting in the wrong position.

Bingo, found it, actually never lost it, was there all the time, couldn't see for looking, small bugger ain't it.

I was lookin for somethink more substantual, bout the size a spark plug cap.

Strange my Ozzy Z1000A1 doesn't have one, but thats being butchered.

I was correct about it being a diode. however, the bit about the "moment of darkness" from high beam to low beam, must have been in my imagination.
I gave myself two out of ten ..... not good.
