Check the wiring to the pickups (on the end of the crankshaft). Sounds like the igniter isn't recieving a signal from them. I f the igniter doesn't get a signal from the pickups it wont fire the coils.

Eyup mate I know how you feel.
If the motors not turning I would think this is the clutch switch or wiring toit. Mine wont turn if the clutch isn't pulled in. If you short the right wires out this will bypass any switches. I'de be tempted to check them all with a multimetre. Good luck Bob.

Agree with Russ, these "safety cut-out" switches can be a pain, I always remove ,em from any of my bikes. Some of the side-stand switches have 3 wires, and only 2 need joining (eg: GSXR) so you'll need to check wiring diagram :?
Check these out first, and kill switch, along with fuses & double check all connections, as these often corrode, and it don't take much to stop 'em working :!: :|
Keep at it and you'll crack it, just be patient

Hi Bob,good to hear that you stuck with it and got it running again. :D
The joys of 20+ year old wiring.
If you want your carbs striping and ultra-sonically cleaning, the bike shop I use do excellent job.The only down side being it will probably lift the black paint off the carbs.
