Non starting Z1000R

I have just transplanted a replacement engine in to my 1983 Z1000R. When it left the donor bike it started on the button. I transplanted carbs, exhaust etc so nothing different or new in set up. It turns over, has a strong spark, fuel in the tank but not a hint of firing! Got to be something really simple but I can't work it out. Help please because I really would like to ride it again!

Martin check the wiring to the coils is the right way round just in case you've mixed up the left and right coils

Martin, check that you've actually got fuel getting to the carbs.
Make sure that the vacuum hose is connected, etc.
Hope you get it sorted out soon.

If it was the kill button it wouldn't be sparking....

Ignition 180 deg out - advance/retard cam or wiring.

Make sure the choke mechanism is operating fully and sliding along it's full range of movement.
Guess who got caught out when trying to start up after a full re-build

thanks for the tips! Certainly not the kill switch as I have a spark. I'll retrace my steps on the fuel system without losing my temper this time tomorrow. Can anyone confirm that the vacuum pipe runs from fuel tap to right hand carb, left hand is blanked and 2 and 3 are linked as this is how it is set up.

Just thought Martin, set the fuel tap to prime to help with initial start-up.
