having just tried to time up the zed, I seem to have a problem, when static timing it tells you to line up with the two lines on the advancer, and rotate the back plate untill the light just comes on. but I have run out of adjustment on the back plate, does this mean I have the cams out of sync?

Kev, u gotta do timing when it is in 'full advance'. That means you have to turn the trigger to set at max advance then set timing. This will ensure the timings correct at full advance, which is the most critical thing :!: It is a bit of a fiddle, and it may be worth marking TDC clearly and 40 deg BTDC with a degree wheel if you got one :?:

Thanks Mark, I don't have any of that hi-tech gear, I am using a pair of crocodile clips and a bulb :P , but you were right I did forget to hold the rotor in the full advance position, which I have now done this morning, and while the bike is loads better, I still have a mis-fire and back fire, so I guess it is time for another set of carbs and holders.
